Hooked Cabarete, located in Cabarete (Dominican Republic), is all about surfing and other watersports. Stay in walking distance to Playa Encuentro, the #1 surf spot in the DR and one of the best surf spots in the Caribbean. The general area is also excellent for paddle boarders and foilers. Kite Beach and Cabarete Bay are located just a few miles away, both are world-renown locations known for their consistent kiting/windsurfing conditions and beautiful beaches. Hooked Cabarete specializes in accommodating all types of watermen/women, as well as anyone who is simply looking for an idyllic tropical setting to lay in the sun and chill. Accommodation
Our tropical studios are suited for up to 4 persons, including a kitchen, bathroom, potable hot and cold water, private terrace with hammock, 24-hour electricity, and optional air-conditioning. Our facilities include a swimming pool in the large, tropical garden, a BBQ grill, activity loft and a free high speed internet connection.
Activities
Hooked Cabarete is not only right next to the surf spot but also only a short ride from world class kite boarding and windsurfing conditions. Other activities include stand up paddling, foiling, yoga, mountain biking, canyoning, kayaking, horse back riding, snokelling, diving, fishing, zip-lining, hiking and seasonal whale watching.
Our surf school partner Pauhana (about us) is located on the surf beach Encuentro, 10mins walk away. Pauhana is the largest surf school in the country and offers private lessons with highly experienced, multi-lingual instructors who will teach you all the core skills needed for safe, successful, and enjoyable surfing.
Pauhana also boasts the largest, most comprehensive quiver choices on the island for board rentals and lessons including Soft tops, Fish, Retro, SUP, Longboards, High-Performance and Foil boards.

Once you are ready to advance from surf lessons, there is the option to rent equipment from Pauhana Surf School to continue your surfing journey and get the most out of your time in the water. Should you want to purchase your own equipment, our partners La Isla Surf Supply offer a wide range of boards and surf accessories from high-quality brands (Global Surf Industries, SurfTech, FCS). Spot and Surf Conditions:
There are waves all year around, but from beginning November until end of April bigger swells hit the Dominican North coast. Encuentro is the most consistent surf spot in the Caribbean and offers several different breaks for all skill levels. The surf school is located at the main peaks of Playa Encuentro. Left and right of the peaks you can find two advanced and powerful waves called la izquierda (left) and coco pipe (right). On solid 6-10ft north swells some other spots start to work really nice and you can surf on some beautiful beaches without crowds. We also offer guided surf trips to some of the best spots and happy to surf with our guest. In the summer season the surf gets more relaxed, great for beginners and intermediate surfers but sometimes big swells, caused by hurricanes far out in the ocean, create some amazing surf.
Kitesurfing:
Cabarete is a well know mekka of wind & kite surfing. Cabarete offers perfect conditions to learn kite surfing or windsurfing at one of the best kite surf destinations in the world. We partner with Kiteclub located at Kitebeach to provide lessons and rentals. They use high quality and save equipment and the instructors are experienced and IKO qualified. Kitebeach is also a great place to hang out and have a bite to eat after the lessons.
