Location: Morocco is just the right place to be in winter time!
Feel good climate, many constant waves and Morocco is just a few hours by plane from Europe! With a non-stop source of Atlantic swell - and a constantly changing shoreline of exposed and sheltered points, reefs and beach breaks - you're never far away from the right wave. With an average temperature of 21°C (from November until February) and a water temperature of 18°C, the North African country might be the best timeout from the cold winter marathon in Europe. Besides, Morocco holds an interesting culture to explore.
Accomodation: Our camp is situated in the village Taghazout, which is approximately one hour away from Agadir right next to the Atlantic Ocean. The house, furished in Moroccan stile, contains double, triple and multi-bed rooms, living room, kitchen, bathroom with a shower and a European toilet. On the roof, we have a big terrace with the view on one of the close spots. The terrace is also the place, where we take breakfast and dinner and the place where we chill after the exhausting surf sessions. Taghazout, which matures to a ‘melting pot’ for the surf scene, offers several restaurants, cafés, grocery stores, surf shops and internet cafés. Three surf spots are within walking distance and, of course, we have a surf shuttle which brings you to the spot with the best waves.
Surf Courses: Once had a good surf, it will not be that easy to stop. Thus you have to explain your girlfriend/boyfriend, that the next holidays will be themed with surfing. Our experienced surf coaches will shortly make it possible that even beginners will ride waves standing up. Even the first tries, lying down while riding the first waves, really are an adventure of its own, which no one should miss out on.
Surfing for beginners: The Basic-Surf course including 10 hours costs € 130. A wetsuit and a surfboard are included in the price for 7 days to practice even after the course.
Board- and Equipment rental: We do have a great range of training and rental boards which are from the brands NSP and BIC! On top of that we have long boards and short boards which are for rent. These can be rented for € 70 per week. We have wetsuits in all kinds of sizes and shorties can be rented for €20 per week!
Getting there: The cheapest way to get there is to fly with Ryan Air to Marrakech and take the bus from there to Agadir where you’ll take a cab. Or you take also a cab from Marrakech directly to Taghazout. This is certainly more expansive but if you are a group of four or more it might profitable. The more convenient way is to take the plane to Agadir.
Well, if you don’t know what to do next winter and you, again, are getting angry about the expensive prices of the ski pass, come and visit us in Morocco. The Maranga Team is looking forward to see you there! Inschallah!
