Bakio

Bizkaia - Basque Country

Bakio’s beach is the longest in Bizkaia and it is perfect for surf practising. Between two fishermen villages, Armintza and Bermeo, Bakio is without any doubt one of the most iconic surfing beaches on the Bay of Biscay seaside. With waves of any level, this beach is ideal for any kind of surfer. The village, located 27 kms away from Bilbao, it is placed in an idyllic natural beauty surroundings next to the popular San Juan de Gaztelugatxe chapel and to 14 kms from Mundaka (the closest beach driving from the road)
Bakio is not only known for surfing, it is also known for the typical wine that elaborates its village: Txakoli.
Conections from Bilbao are via bus. You will get to Bakio from Bilbao taking the Bizkaibus “Bilbao- Mungia- Bakio” and leaves from Plaza Moyua (Barclays Bank bus stop).
