Hooked Cabarete

Hooked Cabarete is all about Surf & Relax. Our small scaled accommodation on the prime wavespot of the Dominican Republic is a special place for a lot of people who stayed with us in the past years. Surfers, Kitesurfers, but also people who just love our quiet place or look for an active and relaxed holiday come to our little paradise.

Accommodation:

Our high quality apartments are suited for one, two or three persons (with an exception of four persons for people with children) and have a own kitchen, couch, bathroom (with hot and cold water), terrace, 24 hours electricity, ventilation system and/or optional air-conditioning. Furthermore, there is a swimming pool in the large, tropical garden and a free and fast internet connection. We have with single beds and/or with a double bed and for small children and babies there are cribs available.

Services:

Besides accommodation, we offer extra services like transport to and from the airport and the option to use a scooter with your room. Furthermore you can take a surf or kitesurf lesson or join us on activities like tours, kite- and surf trips, diners, Sushi nights, etc...

Playa Encuentro:

The apartments of Hooked Cabarete are located near 'Playa del Encuentro'. This is one of the most relaxed places on this island. It is a beautiful beach where you don't see the negative sides of tourism yet and great waves for surfing and kitesurfing. Also if you don't want to surf or kitesurf, you will definitely like it here. The atmosphere is great, the Dominican Republic is a beautiful country and there is a lot to see and do in and around Cabarete.

Surfing:

Surfing is a fantastic sport, especially in a country like the Dominican Republic with a temperature the whole year round between 27 and 31°C. Hooked Cabarete is located right at the main surfspot, Playa Encuentro. A great and relaxed spot for advanced surfers as well as for beginners. The spot is beautiful, not crowded, the people are friendly and the atmosphere is nice and relaxed. Everybody is willing to help each other and at the surfschool you can get lessons or rent a surfboard.

Lessons: Together with the local surf school of Encuentro, we offer surf lessons that make it possible to learn surfing at one of the most beautiful spots in the Caribbean. At the surfschool you can count on a team of professional and highly motivated instructors who will make sure you learn this amazing sport while having a great time on the water. You can book your surf lessons at Hooked Cabarete. After your lesson, you can rent a surfboard to start practicing. The surfschool made some special and not expensive packages for people who stay at Hooked Cabarete.

Rental: At the surfschool you can also rent surfboards. Beginnerboards, but also different types of boards for advanced or intermediate surfers. The school made also for rental special and inexpensive prices for people who stay at Hooked Cabarete.

Spot and Surf Conditions:

There are waves all year around, but from beginning November until end of April is the so called winter season, where bigger north swells hit the dominican north shore. Encuentro is the most consistent spot in the country and offers a few different breaks for all kinds of surf levels. The surfschool is located at the main peaks in the middle at playa encuentro. Left and right from the peaks you can find two advanced and powerful waves, la izquierda (left) and coco pipe (right). On solid 6-10ft north swells some other spots start to work really nice and you can surf on some beautiful beaches without crowds. We also offer guided surftrips to some of the best spots and happy to surf with our guest. In the summer season the surf gets more relaxed, great for beginners and intermediate surfers but sometimes big swells, caused by hurricanes far out in the ocean, create some amazing surf.

Kitesurfing:

Cabarete is well know for a mekka of wind & kitesurfing. Its perfect conditions offer great opportunities to learn kitesurfing or windsurfing on your holiday at one of the best kitesurf destinations in the world. The kiteschool we work with, uses high quality and save equipment and the instructors are experienced and qualified to teach. And the kiteschool is more than that, Having lessons here does not only mean you learnhow to kitesurf in a safe way, but also means that you have a great time on the beach and in the water.
