Camino Surf Galicia - Surfing where the earth finishes: A 180°-degree swell window. One of Europe's most exposed coastlines. Empty line-ups, perfect waves and yummy food. Welcome to Ferrolterra, Galicia - home of the Camino Surf Camp. We are located just next to the 4km long, very consistent Playa de Frouxeira, with several other beaches in close proximity.
Our highly motivated and experienced staff will pick the best surf-spot of the day suited for your skill-level so you can get the most out of your surfing-vacation. Our sophisticated training methodology include intensive video analyses with footage from different angles, onshore-balance training, surf-theory and more.

• Accomodation:
  • Base Camp: The Camino Surf Base Camp has everything on offer to make the most out of your surf-trip. Just a stone's throw from the wide sandy beach of Playa de Frouxeira, you snuggle up in one of our homy and roomy two-person-tents, equipped with mattresses and sheets. In the mornings you can check the surf just right away from the camp (beachview), go for a dawn patrol and improve your surfing skills in one of the Camino Surf courses later on.
  • Appartments: Make yourself at home in one of our fully furnished apartments, just around the corner from the Camino Base Camp and within a five minute walk from our homebreak, Playa de Frouxeira. The cheerful apartments are equipped with kitchen, bathroom and a living room. Naturally, all of the Camino Surf Base Camp facilities are at your disposal including the common-tent with lounge, internet-pc, mountainbikes, slack-line, skateboards, table-tennis, chill-out area with surf-theater, parlour games and more...
  • Bungalows: Situated on the three-Star-Campsite only 300m from the beach Playa de Frouxeira and right next to the Camino Surf Base-Camp, the cosy and fully furnished bungalows accommodate up to five people and are best suited for families. The convenient bungalows are equipped with a porch, kitchen, bathroom and a dinner table.
  • Surf-Villa: The Camino Surf Villa is undoubtedly considered the Ferrari of all the Camino Surf lodging options. About five kilometers from the Base Camp, the early-19th-century stone-house combines classic galician architecture with modern amenities: Either you delve into a book in front of the open fire place in the stylish living room or you relax at the heated swimming-pool. If you have signed up for surfing classes, we will pick you up and drop you off right in front of the Villa. To enjoy a maximum degree of freedom, you are also very welcome to rent out one of our mountainbikes - free of charge, of course...
• Surfing:
  • Beginner Surfcourse: During the beginner course our experienced surf-coaches will introduce you to the joys and thrills unique to this beautiful and recreational activity. The five-day, 20-hour course, consists of daily surf sessions on our homebreak, Playa de Frouxeira, or on one of the surrounding beaches.Thanks to our sophisticated training methodology, advances come easily and naturally, starting off with the very basics like paddling and catching broken waves and progressing to surf the "green" wave towards the end of the course. An ideal student-teacher ratio, a safe and fun environment as well as our highly motivated and experienced staff will get you on board in no time. The daily surf-sessions are complemented by indispensable lessons on the most important aspects of surf-theory, including wind, waves, tides, currents, surfing-equipment, rules in surfing, and more. The video analysis, an integral part of our professional training, enables you to watch yourself surfing and, together with our instructors, allows you to discover spots for improvement...
  • Intermediate Surfcourse: So you have been surfing before and you already manage to stand up on smaller waves but you want to push it to the next level or feel the need to refine your techniques? In this case our Intermediate Surf Course is your best bet. Correct posture, positioning, timing - to get the most out of your surf-session you need to bring a lot of things to perfection. Thanks to our sophisticated training methodology which include two intensive video analyses with footage from different angles, advances come easily and naturally. An ideal student-teacher ratio, the best spot of the day suited for your skill-level as well as our highly motivated and experienced staff will help you achieve your individual goals.The objectives of this course include the easy take-off in 5ft swell and going "down-the-line", correct timing and techniques for paddling, duck-diving, and catching waves more easily. We will give away a variety of useful tips and tricks on how to improve your surfing-skills.
  • Advanced Surfcourse: You have already mastered the basics of surfing and now you want to put more power and speed in your turns, drop into bigger waves with more confidence and get started with your first manoeuvres? Then you should give our advanced surfing course a go. Together with our experienced and motivated instructors, you will spot points for improvement in all stages or surfing according to your skill level: from taking-off to carving into a snap. An ideal student-teacher ratio, the best spot of the day suited for your skill-level as well as two intensive video analyses with footage from different angles including a board-cam, underwater-cam and beach-cam facilitate the fine-tuning of your surf-style.The objectives of the advanced surf course are assessed individually and are geared to your personal surf-needs and interests.
  • Kiddies Surfcourse: Your kids are hot about surfing? Don't hold them back but let them develop a feeling for the sea in a safe and fun environment. We offer courses specially designed for kids from 7 to 14 years of age. Your loved ones will gently and playfully learn the basics of surfing in small groups while our instructors watch them carefully and ensure maximum safety at all times. Our water-lessons, all held in waist-deep water or inside the protected lagoon, are loosened up by fun lessons on surfing-techniques and the ocean or just fooling around on the beach. The objectives of the kids-course are to develop a basic connection to the sea and the waves, feeling confident in swell of about 1 - 1.5 ft (about half meter), managing the first stand-ups and short rides - and above them all: having fun on the beach!
• Food: Our Catering-Queen constitutes a fundamental member of the Camino Surf family and looks after the physical well-being of our surfers by replenishing their carbohydrate reserves through fully-fledged yummie Surf-Food. From a hearty breakfast in the morning, where you also prepare your packed lunch for your day on the beach, to the well-balanced dinner at night you should lack for nothing more. You may book full-board on a daily basis or you go for the 7'6"er Culinario-Package which includes: 7x Breakfast with packed lunch and 6x dinner. Naturally, vegetarian cuisine will be provided on request.
  And if you are more into self-catering: no worries. The common-tent is equipped with a fridge, a gas stove and tableware as well as a coffee-maker and a kettle. Reveal your inner chef and whip up some tasty meals!
  Furthermore, there are many opportunities to get in touch with the local cuisine like the renowned Tapas Bar "A Saina" at Playa de Frouxeira, the Cafe and restaurant located on the campsite or the restaurant "A Saiña" just next to the Camp, where chef Toni prepares delicious regional maritime specialities.

  • Spanish-Course: Get in touch with the local culture and learn the basics of the spanish language. Choose between the five-hour-crash course (1h/day) and the ten-hour-intensive course (2h/day).
  • Kitesurf-Course: On request, we organize Kite-Courses on the days with strong winds.
  • Surf'n'Roll Music-Workshops: If you want to broaden your physical and mental horizon, check out our music-and-surf package Surf'n'Roll: You will learn how to surf and learn or improve on the (handy) musical instrument of your choice - together with our music and surf teacher.
