The Surf Experience in Lagos

Location: Our villas are situated in, or a little distance outside of Lagos at the beautiful Western Algarve, one of the best natural surf coastlines in Europe. The south and the west coast are located right on our doorstep. The two different coasts do have the advantage of a great choice between different spots and waves. This means that every day the perfect conditions are to be found – regardless of whether you are a beginner, an advanced or a pro surfer.

Lagos itself is a lovely old Portuguese harbor town that has plenty to offer! Besides gorgeous beaches and bays in and around Lagos, which are always worth a visit, everyone will find the perfect location for food, drinking, chillout and party. Brilliant food will be found in all of the countless restaurants and the numerous cafés invite you to relax and watch the varied scene in the streets of Lagos. And who might still have enough energy after surfing, the sun and a long day at the beach, should not miss out on the legendary nightlife.

Accomodation/ Food: You can choose between the “Vila Catarina”, homebase of German pro surfers Marlon and Melvin Lipke, and our new “Vila Maravista”. Vila Catarina is situated approximately five minutes away from Lagos and is surrounded by a large garden with pool. The villa itself possesses a great lounge with music, Sat-TV, DVD and Video, Wi-Fi, bar, poolbilliard – the perfect place for a chillout after a long surf session. If you decide upon the “Vila Catarina”, surfing and catering are included. We are offering full board containing, breakfast, lunch and dinner on five evenings a week. Two nights a week our legendary kitchen stays closed and you can try the restaurants in Lagos. Our food comprises a diverse breakfast, lunch packages for the beach and fabulous, healthy and varied dinners.

The “Vila Maravista” is our self-catering option. The villa is directly located in Lagos and offers a beautiful ocean view from the terrace besides the private pool. The large lounge is also equipped with Sat-TV, DVD, music player and Wi-Fi. Supermarkets and Restaurants are situated right next door.

Surf course: We go surfing seven days a week! Our experienced and licensed surfcoaches will take you in our 4 x 4 to the best daily surfspots on the Algarve, depending on swell and wind conditions. Personal coaching in groups of maximal 6 persons per coach and video analysis are guaranteed. Our coaches know how to give you objective advice on improving your skills and are always there to offer advice on the beach and in the water. We are focusing on the FUN of surfing, regardless how good your surfing skills are. Wetsuits and surfboards can be hired, if you do not have your own equipment. The range of boards covers softboards as well as everything between a 6’0 shortboard up to a 9’4 longboard.

Arrival: The easiest way of getting here, is booking a flight to Faro. You can either book a transfer that will take you to Lagos, or take a bus or train to Lagos, where we will pick you up. Otherwise you can also fly to Lisbon and take a bus, train or rental car to Lagos. We do not have fixed dates of arrival and you can come down here each day of the week.

Specials: Surf & Yoga – the perfect combination of waves, beach, balance and sea! Our resident Yoga instructor, Puck, will be offering Yoga morning and evening classes outside the normal Surf & Yoga weeks. Puck has been a devoted Yogi for the last 3 years, and is qualified with the European Yoga Alliance. Classes are just over an hour, incorporating strengthening and releasing poses that will work specific areas required for surfing. We will also work on breath awareness and relaxation techniques. Further we run special Surf & Yoga retreats. At certain times throughout the year, usually for 1 week, a yoga instructor will be staying at the camp and will offer yoga in the morning before surfing and in the evening before dinner.
