Backwash Surfcamp in Lege Cap Ferret

Set on the beautiful peninsula of Cap Ferret in southwest France, the camp seduces with its exceptional location.
The Backwash Team has pitched its tents in the heart of a pine forest, only 150 meters away from the beach and the rolling waves of the Atlantic Ocean.

Camp
One camp, three good reasons: the idyllic location, delightful meals and an entertaining program. The Backwash home base is situated on the four star campground "Le Truc Vert", a wonderfully lush, “green spot”, as the name already tells. The ten hectare terrain offers plenty of space for your van, dog and Co. On-site features include a lifeguarded beach, kids playground, volleyball court, bar, restaurant and supermarket. An internet access is also available. The accommodation is in spacious tents; the only thing you need to bring is your sleeping bag and a camping mat.

The evenings are as exciting as the days: Sit and chat around a bonfire, watch thrilling surf movies or go dancing at the club.

To complete your perfect holiday, the Backwash team offer you a varied menu of mouth-watering dishes. Enjoy a lavish breakfast buffet in the morning, a packed lunch at the beach and a tasty dinner in the evening.

Surfing
The Backwash Surfcamp offers courses for beginners, intermediates and advanced surfers. The training includes a theoretical part to teach you important knowledge about weather, waves and tides, and, of course, hands-on sessions in the water.
The number of participants is limited to 18 persons. Bringing together surfers of different levels – beginner, intermediate or advanced – the courses allow you to progress in the most dynamic way.

Besides the surf breaks in Cap Ferret, the spot “Le Truc Vert” (right next to the same named campground) is one of the region’s most popular spots. Along the coast road, which leads though the pine forest, you can find other accesses to non guarded and less frequented beaches.

Region
The peninsula of Cap Ferret is approximately 30 minutes from Bordeaux and belongs to one of the most beautiful spots along the country’s Atlantic coastline. Thanks to its endless sandy beaches you can always find an empty surf spot, even in the high season. In addition, the region has a rich and interesting culture: Taste wines at one of the numerous Chateaus, savour oysters in a scenic fisher village or discover the beautiful nature on a boat cruise. For all who love going for a stroll, the bustling centre of Cap Ferret offers many shops, bars and restaurants.

How to find the camp
The nearest airport is Bordeaux. From there, a bus service (line 601) runs to Cap Ferret. Or, from the port of Arcachon (5 minutes from the Arcachon railway station), you can take the "transbassin” ferry to Cap Ferret.
